If Tony Blair thinks prime ministers are starting to look a little young, he has probably been glancing over the Hungarian election results. Alumnus to be proud of No 175 is Viktor Orban, who at the age of 34 led his Fidesz party to victory over the socialists in last weekend's general election. Like Blair he was educated as a lawyer, in his case at Eotvos Lorand University in Budapest. But unlike Blair, he did not think much of Oxford. He arrived for a Soros scholarship at Pembroke College at the start of the 1989-90 academic year but went home in December to become an MP instead.
