Subject: Amended proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning the traceability and labelling of genetically modified organisms and the traceability of food and feed products produced from genetically modified organisms and amending Directive 2001/18/EC
Delegations will find attached (Annex I) the text that now incorporates the compromise agreed by the Environment Council on 9 December 2002.
In order to cover exemptions from traceability and labelling of traces of GMOs in products for processing, Article 7(2) has been re-introduced (cf. 14784/02 ) and paragraphs 7 and 8 of Article 4 have been adapted accordingly.
The review clause has been introduced as the new Article 12 and, as a consequence, the provisions for "entry into force" now figure as Article 13.
This text will undergo legal/linguistic editing in cooperation with the legal services of the EP and will then follow the usual "I/A" procedure for formal adoption by the Council.
The Council and Commission statement in relation to Article 13 is in Annex II to this Note and will be entered in the Council minutes.
