Terror policy critiqued

Counter-terrorism efforts in the UK are failing, according to a Birmingham academic. In a new book, The British War on Terror, Steve Hewitt, a lecturer and security specialist at Birmingham University, argues that the Government is failing to win "hearts and minds" by focusing on the wrong issues. He said: "Debates around identity cards or the 90-day detention rule distract from discussing measures and issues that might have made a difference with regard to 7/7 and to future 7/7s."
