Hard-up students at Bradford University must hope their local Labour parliamentary candidate will be keeping to pre election pledges if he has won a seat in Parliament this week.

Marsha Singh, Labour candidate for Bradford West, which includes the university, told students in a green questionnaire that he favoured free rail travel for students.

Defending a slender 9,500 majority inherited from Max Madden, he must have felt he needed their help.
