A £20 million Welsh Assembly scheme to increase the number of highly skilled workers in Wales is to be led by Swansea University. The Access to Master's programme will provide annual bursaries and tuition funding worth up to £8,450 to candidates on 1,400 higher degrees, with the aim of "driving forward innovation in business". The scheme is backed by £12.3 million from the European Social Fund. Richard Davies, vice-chancellor of Swansea, said: "It is crucial that the higher education sector in Wales continues to collaborate with industry to ensure that we develop graduates capable of building rewarding careers in sectors of strategic importance to the knowledge economy."
