Children visiting Paignton Zoo in Devon after seeing Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets thought the zoo had made a mistake with its basilisk. In the film, the basilisk is a giant snake, when in reality it is a lizard. Nils Lindahl-Elliot at the University of the West of England made the observation while researching the influence of popular culture on the understanding of natural history. The study will be published in November.
