Twenty-nine high-flying engineering students have each been awarded a Pounds 7,500 bursary to help them fulfil their potential as tomorrow's captains of industry.
The awards have been made through a new Royal Academy of Engineering scheme, which is backed by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation. All students are in their second year of an accredited engineering degree.
The academy will monitor each student's progress closely and pair them with a mentor from the Sainsbury Management Fellows Society, whose members are all chartered engineers.
Among the 29 students are electrical and mechanical engineer Philip Broad of Edinburgh University; mechanical engineer Eunice Cinnamon of Nottingham; civil engineer Louise Mitchell of Queen's University, Belfast, and materials scientist David Hayman of University of Wales, Swansea.
