Students could gain advance look at exams

Students could demand to see exam papers in advance under a potential loophole in the draft Freedom of Information Bill, according to university chiefs.

The Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals has expressed concern about the bill and is pushing for a clause to prevent this from happening.

The committee is also anxious that universities are reclassified as autonomous bodies. The draft bill has designated universities as public authorities, which the CVCP says constitutes a "serious inroad into universities' independent status".
