Strike over cuts to holiday called off

Lecturers at Northumbria University have called off their threat of industrial action after university management agreed to reinstate their Easter vacation period to three weeks from two.

Members of lecturers' union Natfhe have been withholding marks since March, when the holiday cuts were suggested. A Natfhe spokesperson said that staff used the time to catch up on research and marking.

A working party will look at ways to reduce workloads.
