William Straw, son of home secretary Jack, has not had a great relationship with the press since being duped into supplying cannabis to an undercover reporter. Now he has attacked it for failing to take enough notice of the National Union of Students march against tuition fees.

In a letter to the Daily Mail , young Straw, president of the junior common room at New College, Oxford, warns that after all "the government would like to ignore this issue and deal with it without a mandate, as it did in 1997 with the introduction of tuition fees". I bet his dad regrets paying this year's fee instalment already.
