Stormy weather ahead in the med

Global warming could trigger hurricanes in the Mediterranean, a team of Spanish and German academics has warned. Researchers from the University of Castilla-La Mancha in Toledo and the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology in Hamburg said a 3C temperature rise would be enough to set off the storms. They said it was not clear which areas of the Med would be hardest hit and that the worst scenarios might be avoided by a reduction in greenhouse gases.
