Stone cold sobering

Ars Longa, Vita Brevis is undoubtedly a fine motto for a medical school, being both Hippocratic in origin and a reflection of the time doctors spend in training.

But one has to question setting it in stone outside the Sheffield Medical School. Is it entirely diplomatic to remind everybody visiting the adjacent Royal Hallamshire hospital that life is short?
