Stagecoach boss gets student roasting

一月 21, 2000

The National Union of Students Scotland is to consult its members about a possible boycott of the Stagecoach company in protest at its owner's moves in favour of the controversial Section 28 law.

Brian Souter (below), Scotland's richest man, has pledged a donation, believed to be up to Pounds 1 million, to the campaign opposing the removal of Section 28, which forbids the promotion of homosexuality in schools. The Scottish Parliament will vote shortly on repealing the clause.

Willie MacKenzie, president of Stirling University's students' association, said: "It won't do Mr Souter's business any good to be so publicly associated with this blatantly discriminatory legislation."
