Spending Review claim

The chief executive of the Science and Technology Facilities Council has said the results of the Government's Comprehensive Spending Review will leave the research council's existing programmes in the red. Keith Mason said that, once inflation and the increased costs of operating some facilities were taken into account, the council was looking at a deficit of about £80 million on existing programmes over the three-year CSR period.
