Spending on research under the spotlight

十月 29, 1999

* Spending on research across government departments will come under the spotlight later this year as part of an inquiry by the House of Commons select committee on science and technology.

The committee will consider: trends in the science budget and departmental spending compared with industrial spending on research and development; how well the Office of Science and Technology advises and coordinates departmental spending decisions; and the way in which such spending is reported.

Written evidence must be submitted by November 26. Oral evidence will be heard in December.
