Space Green Paper consultation events to take place across Europe

二月 28, 2003

Brussels, Feb 2003

To support the consultation process on the Commission's Green Paper on space, a series of seminars, workshops and hearings are being organised throughout Europe in order to foster a debate.

The events will be attended by national and international organisations as well as representatives from the European space industry, the scientific community and the general public. It is hoped that such an extensive exchange will help to shape a comprehensive EU space policy, to be outlined in a White Paper later in 2003. Interested parties can also participate in the debate via the online forum at the reference below.

The inaugural conference in Brussels on 6 March will be attended by a number of high level players, including EU Research Commissioner Philippe Busquin; Vice President of the European Convention, Jean-Luc Dehaene; Director General of the European Space Agency (ESA), Antonio Rodotà and EU Commissioner for Transport and Energy, Loyola de Palacio.

A number of discussion panels will take place on issues such as space science, access to space, space applications, security aspects, industrial aspects, human space flight and institutional aspects.

The locations and dates of the consultation events are as follows:
- Brussels, 6 March
- Madrid (industry working group), 25 March
- Rome (Member States, ESA, EU working group), 10 April
- Berlin (science working group), end of April, date to be confirmed
- London (applications working group), May, date to be confirmed
- Prague (international cooperation working group), 2 June
