Sony gives support to Sunderland project

Sunderland University is to receive Pounds 1 million worth of technology from electronics giant Sony as part of a research project set to revolutionise data storage.

The university will trial a way of archiving images and other data that traditionally use large amounts of memory. The project could also solve complicated copyright issues in universities, said Mike O'Brien, principal lecturer in the School of Arts, Design and Media.
