Soaraway Sun sent away

六月 6, 2003

Students at St John's College, Oxford, last week voted not to buy The Sun - and The Sun is livid about it. Dissenting students contacted the paper to complain about the decision not to buy it for the college's junior common room because it was "offensive in our social space". The Sun promptly published an article accusing the students of being prudish. JCR president Hardip Dhesi told The THES: "It's our collective money that goes into buying newspapers. We are not saying 'don't buy The Sun ' - people do and leave it in the common room - but that it's not appropriate to spend communal money on something that's demeaning to women and not very welcoming to minority groups."
