The centre for mathematical sciences (above) being built at Cambridge University will feature a fully integrated security system built by Philips at a cost of Pounds 250,000. The system, running on the university's Granta fibre-optic network, will include a central control room to monitor CCTV images, two-way voice communication points and door-access via magnetic card readers with automatic logging to a central database. Completion of the first phase of the construction is planned for next January.
