Scissors for a snip

Student poverty being what it is these days, institutions have their work cut out trying to prevent students pilfering items such as stationery - no doubt to sell on the black market to raise a few pence for a can of baked beans.

No more so than the learning centre at Swansea College. The beleaguered library decided the only way to prevent theft was to anchor items down. So staff tied the library scissors to the counter with a long piece of string. Needless to say, the college is now looking at new ways of anchoring.
