School-based training gets quality warning

Two new school-based teacher training courses in Essex have been given a preliminary warning about poor quality by schools' inspectorate Ofsted.

South-East Essex Primary Consortium was given two failure grades from five inspection areas in mathematics. The Essex Primary Training Group was also judged to be failing in two inspection areas. Although neither was found to be in compliance with minimum standards, the inspection grades are provisional because both courses are less than a year old.
