AUT Scotland has been hit by semantic difficulties in its transcript of its conference on higher education and a Scottish parliament. A failed attempt to reintroduce romance to the tertiary sector, has "words endearing" in place of "words in Dearing". "Compliments to the chef" is actually praise for the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council, SHEFC.

Scottish education minister Brian Wilson will be relieved to hear that SHEFC chief executive John Sizer drew attention to his "final" rather than "vile" comments, while the further education sector will be keen to deny its role in the "seamless rogue scenario". AUT general secretary David Triesman is quoted as paying tribute to "the heady Fanz Yeckler years." This is not a reference to a professor of German at Strathclyde, but an allusion to the end of the 19th century.
