Sacked history lecturer wins £27,000 payout

SACKED lecturer Pat Walsh has won Pounds ,000 from a further education college after claiming unfair dismissal. Mr Walsh, a senior history lecturer at Accrington and Rossendale College, Lancashire, took his employers to an industrial tribunal claiming he was dismissed, just before last Christmas, because of his trade union activities. The surprise offer halted the tribunal, which began on Monday. The college denies any liability and Mr Walsh is to withdraw his action.
