Royal College of Art - Life before Starbucks

Viennese coffeehouses at the turn of the last century are the focus of a festival and conference to be staged by the Royal College of Art. The Vienna Cafe Festival and conference, beginning this week, form part of a three-year research project with Birkbeck, University of London. The event will include an exhibition at the RCA that highlights the history of the coffeehouses through displays of historical photographs, graphics, film and other ephemera.
