十一月 24, 2017

A Times Higher Education reporter has been named the UK’s higher education journalist of the year.

Holly Else won the Outstanding Higher Education Journalism category at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations’ annual Education Journalism Awards.

Her winning submission centred on a feature published in January 2017 that explored how likely academics were to confess to errors in their research.

Three other THE journalists were on the five-strong shortlist for the category: data editor Simon Baker, reporter Jack Grove, and former reporter John Elmes.

Mr Baker was also on the shortlist for the Outstanding Use of Data in Education Journalism category.

John Gill, THE editor, said that it was “great to get this recognition for the exceptional, in-depth reporting that we pride ourselves on at THE”.

“The work of tenacious, independent journalists scrutinising and uncovering the issues that really matter has never been more important, and that’s as true in higher education – which is facing new and increasing pressures all the time – as it is in any other area,” Mr Gill said.

“Holly’s reporting, including the article on research integrity that won this award, sets a great example, and we’re all delighted that this has been recognised.”
