Report renews calls for creative learning

Calls for a radical shake-up of the education system to place creativity at the centre of all teaching were renewed last week with the relaunch of a report, writes Caroline Davis.

More than a year after its launch, the report, All Our Futures: Creativity, Culture and Education, has been relaunched in summary form for distribution to educational and business organisations.

The report was produced by the National Advisory Committee on Creative and Cultural Education last May in response to a national inquiry commissioned by the secretaries of state for education and employment and for culture, media and sport.

The government said it was acting on the report's recommendations. Ken Robinson, the report's author and chair of the advisory committee and professor of arts education at Warwick University, said there was a long way to go.

The National Campaign for the Arts raised sponsorship to enable the summary to be published.
