Regions' role in creating ERA - conference

二月 25, 2002

Brussels, 22 February 2002

An analysis of how regions will create a European research area and what effect it will have on them will be discussed at a conference on the 'Role of the regions in creating a European research space' in Perugia, Italy on and 28 March.

Speakers will include EU Research Commissioner Philippe Busquin and three Nobel prize winners. The event will focus on the Sixth Framework programme (FP6) and its role in increasing scientific collaboration and cooperation. It will also address aspects of the integrated projects and the specific programmes that are included in FP6.

The organisers of the event say that regional input will be a major influence in shaping national policies which help to create the ERA, and that the European regions will be among those to benefit of from the increased innovation it aims to bring about.
