No whingeing here. Instead, The THES celebrates the efforts of the education and employment secretary, David Blunkett, in securing Pounds 160 million from the European Social Fund to fund the University for Industry. The sum dwarfs the government's proposed spending on the UFI: a full Pounds 5 million, which is surely all it can afford. A pat on the back, too, to the Quality Assurance Agency. In the spirit of its proposed super-efficient regime, the agency sent no fewer than eight copies of its consultation paper to The THES.
