QualityLowInputFood project publishes three calls for proposals

The coordinators of the EU funded project QualityLowInputFood have published three calls for proposals.

The project consortium requires the following:


- Information on the effect of dairy management practise (organic, 'low input' and conventional) on production efficiency, milk quality and herd health status and reproductive efficiency (2.2.2 in the work package).

The partner organisation selected will compare the effect of selected management practices, such as feed types (e.g. perennial ryegrass, hybrid ryegrass, high sugar cultivars, naked oat and/or white clover) and conservation methods (hay, silage) on animal performance in organic and conventional production systems. The partner selected will use an existing long term comparative (organic vs. conventional) dairy experiment.

The start date for this contract is 14 July 2004, and the maximum EU contribution is 330,000 euro.


- Development of nutrient budget-based precision farming system and software for vegetable crops (3.3.4 in the work package).

This contract will involve the development of nutrient budget-based precision farming models for the vegetable model crops included in studies under SP2 and SP3 in close collaboration with partner 10 INRA (who will focus on the development of similar models for wheat).

The start date will be 1 October 2004, and the Maximum EU contribution will be 110,000 euro.


- Horizontal activity 1 - environmental and sustainability audits.

The role of the new partner will be to carry out environmental and sustainability audits for specific crops/technologies. This work will be carried out in close collaboration with the WP3.3.4 team, which focuses on the development of nutrient budget based precision farming systems.

The start date for this contract is 1 October 2004, and the maximum EU contribution is 160,000 euro.

Only institutions in the enlarged EU are eligible for these contracts.
