QAA's role challenged

The QAA's role in monitoring standards in subjects with statutory professional bodies was challenged by the British Medical Association this week, writes Julia Hinde.

The General Medical Council has statutory responsibility to satisfy itself that medical graduates are competent and safe doctors, and have a say in course content. "Clearly there is overlap," said Colin Smith, chairman of the BMA Medical Academics Staff Committee.
