A professional qualification for college principals, designed to improve management skills in the wake of a string of embarrassing mismanagement scandals, came a step closer this week. The Further Education National Training Organisation published the first "occupational standards" for managers in colleges as the basis of the proposed qualification, subject to approval by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority.
