Alumnus to be proud of No: 46 is the artist formally known as Prince, the rising documentary film-maker Ed Windsor.

In the same week as regaling the nation with his views on the life of his great-uncle Edward VIII, he emerged as one of our leading revisionist sociologists, announcing the demise of the British class system.

Ed, after all, should know. A few years back he emerged from public school with A levels good enough to earn him a place at a polytechnic or a college of higher education.

But thanks to the working of our classless system and the preparedness of HE institutions to treat all applicants the same, Ed wound up spending three years at Jesus College, Cambridge.
