Poor strategy slows growth in 16-19 sector

Joint initiatives between colleges and school sixth-forms are being hampered by poor strategic planning and quality assurance, according to a report from the Further Education Funding Council and the Office for Standards in Education.

The report said that collaboration between the two 16 to 19 sectors could broaden students studies, provide economies of scale, protect vulnerable subjects and increase staying-on rates. But more staff training and better strategic planning is needed.
