Those looking for a hobby other than ranting about the research assessment exercise might like to join in the latest academic parlour game - the naming of the new super trade union as the merger of lecturers'

Natfhe and the Association of University Teachers progresses. But let's not sully ourselves with some of the more unfortunate acronyms doing the rounds - the Federation of University Colleges and Teachers or the Federation of University, College and Adult Lecturers (Fuct and Fucal). A single word seems safer. Academy, Campus, Focus and the politically correct Access are the least controversial contenders. Apparently the proposal of Academics Anonymous will not be pursued. All suggestions welcome.
