The PATLIB 2003 conference, organised within the framework of the European Patent Office's cooperation policy with national patent offices, will take place from 21 to 23 May in Liège, Belgium.
The theme for the 2003 event is 'investing in the future' with a particular focus on the training of patent professionals. Alongside the main conference, a series of training courses and public seminars will be held.
Keynote speakers at the event will include Philippe Busquin, European Commissioner for Research, and Ingo Kober, President of the European Patent Office.
Special workshops at the event will focus on such themes as the relationship between research centres and industry, new US legislation and its impact in Europe and the role of PATLIB centres in the innovation process chain.
