Over the next year, between 15,000 and 30,000 French students are expected to take up an offer to buy a personal computer over three years for the cost of a daily cup of coffee, equivalent to 10 to 15 per cent below market prices, under a scheme launched by Francois Fillon, the Education Minister. Campus wireless networks will enable students to use their laptops instead of universities providing expensive infrastructure when budgets are tight.
