Dov-Ber Kerler (left) leads discussion of the semiotics of the Mayse Bukh in Old Yiddish Literature at the first seminar held by the new Oxford Institute for Yiddish Studies. Set up following a row at the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies, the institute is running seven weekly classes for Oxford University students. The dispute with the OCHJS goes to court on February 15 when institute administrator Marie Wright sues for legal costs.
