Oxford's colleges have published breakdowns on the proportions of offers to pupils from state and independent schools for this autumn's intake (below). The House of Commons select committee on education asked Oxford vice-chancellor Colin Lucas for this information when he gave evidence last month. This year, 53.6 per cent of offers to UK students have been made to pupils from the state sector. Five years ago, 53 per cent of offers went to independent school pupils.
