NATIONAL guidelines for treating acne could be available in three years, following a study into treatments of the condition.

A team of health economics and microbiology researchers from the universities of Nottingham and Leeds are trying to identify the most useful and cost-effective antibiotics for treating mild to moderate acne.

The study will allocate 1,200 acne patients from GP practices in Leeds and Nottingham between 11 different surveys.

It will look at how they feel about their acne before and after treatment, as well as how far it has cured their spots.
