Nottingham University has made the following promotions: Lorraine Young becomes professor of molecular embryology in the medical school; Sharon Monteith becomes professor of American studies; Jeffrey Kenner becomes professor of European law; Simon Langley-Evans becomes professor of human nutrition in the School of Biosciences; Martin McCoustra becomes professor of chemical physics; Jeremy Collis becomes professor of atmospheric environment; Elizabeth Socket becomes professor of bacterial genetics; Tim Ledgeway becomes professor of vision research; James Devlin becomes professor of marketing; Ravi Mahajan becomes professor in anaesthesia and intensive care; Wyn Rees becomes professor of international security; Kwing-So Choi becomes professor of fluid mechanics; Nigel Wright becomes professor of environmental fluid mechanics; and Kevin Fone has been appointed to a chair in neuroscience.
