Not content with introducing the market to higher education, Charles Clarke looks set to take the Labour Party shopping for votes.

Rumours abound that the well-fed Education Secretary is poised to open a new constituency office in a shopping mall with his fellow Norwich MP and the chair of the Science and Technology Select Committee, Ian Gibson. Bearing in mind that rivalry between the two MPs reached Pepsi and Coca-Cola proportions during the Commons debates on tuition fees, the location of their new office seems strangely appropriate.

But will either the new Labour or the old Labour brands really tempt the punters out of Dorothy Perkins?
