Authors Richard Dawkins and Stephen Jay Gould have again demonstrated how much they differ. After spending years clashing over evolutionary science, the combative duo switched to commenting on the events of September 11. While Professor Dawkins railed against the role of religion in persuading young people to part with their lives, Professor Gould sang the praises of a dozen "apple brown bettys" that he had been given to distribute - along with several thousand face masks - to rescue workers.
