Non-formula funding

二月 28, 1997

Total non-formula funding for 1997/98 is Pounds 306 million, including Pounds 16 million which would previously have been allocated under DevR. This money will cover the same kinds of institutions but will be used to promote collaborative projects only. The idea is that these institutions will need the help of established research departments to improve their own research substantially.

It also includes a Pounds 3.5 million contribution to a new joint project with the Teacher Training Agency to promote education research.

Non-formula funding is made up of Pounds 121 million worth of finalised allocations and Pounds 185 million of claims-based elements and allocations which still have to be finalised. It covers additional costs such as London weighting, libraries, museums and minority subjects.
