Nolan sets sights on higher education

FURTHER and higher education funding councils and representative bodies of universities and colleges are to be quizzed by the Nolan Committee on what they are doing to become more open and accountable.

The committee also plans to talk to Sir Ron Dearing and Helena Kennedy about the implications of their reports on higher education and widening participation for recommendations made by Lord Nolan. The committee hopes its findings will be taken into account by the Government in the forthcoming Lifelong Learning white paper.
