NEST call for proposals - ADVENTURE, INSIGHT and NEST SUPPORT

The European Commission has launched an open call for proposals for new and emerging science and technology (NEST) under the 'anticipating scientific and technological needs' activity of the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6). This is one of the areas covered by the 'integrating and strengthening the European Research Area' specific programme.

This call relates to the following NEST activities:


- INSIGHT - Research projects aimed at assessing new discoveries and newly-observed phenomena, where the latter may indicate important potential problems or risks to society;
- ADVENTURE - Research projects, in emerging areas of knowledge and on future technologies, in particular in multidisciplinary fields, which are highly innovative and involve high (technical) risks;
- NEST SUPPORT - Actions focused on the conceptual and practical questions associated specifically with NEST implementation.

The total indicative budget for this call is 30 million euro.

In specifying the instruments to be used in these areas, the call requests the use of specific targeted research projects (STREPs), specific support actions (SSA), and coordination actions (CA).
