The National Kidney Research Fund’s ABLE – “A Better Life” – Campaign is a multi-disciplinary programme, which aims to address the high incidence of renal disease amongst ethnic communities in the United Kingdom.
The Fund has identified a further funding initiative through the Community Fund’s Research Grants Programme, which aims to support innovative research projects within the broad aims of the ABLE theme, including ‘representatives of the communities involved and appropriate beneficiary involvement’. The NKRF wishes to invite research proposals which: focus on the current problems associated with the patient pathway in renal disease amongst individuals from ethnic communities; develop strategies with the objectives of improving early diagnosis, and effective treatment and intervention in these individuals; lead towards reduction in the prevalence of end stage renal failure in ethnic communities.
Applications are open and invited from all health professionals working in the field of renal disease in the UK and applications from individuals or consortia will be welcomed.
Submissions received are likely to be for three-year research programmes with levels of funding around £150,000.
