Grants can only be held by recognised NHS and academic institutions in the UK.
There are five different types of research awards:
Project Grants
These provide support for research projects designed to answer a single questions or group of related questions.
Innovative Awards
These provide support for short term, small-scale projects to allow researchers to explore new ideas in MS research, that might merit further support after some development.
Junior Fellowships
These enable outstanding researchers to progress towards higher-level appointments. They are made available to post-doctoral graduates in the early stages of their careers.
Senior Fellowships
These are awarded to outstanding scientists committed to research careers in MS to allow them to develop independent research programmes.
PhD Studentships
These are designed to encourage the best science graduates to embark on research careers in MS.
