Russian government officials and television executives were this week considering using the top of Moscow State University's main tower as a transmission platform after fire tore through the city's Ostankino TV tower last weekend. The fire blazed out of control for 26 hours in the 1,771ft high transmitting tower in northwest Moscow. TV executives and communications ministry officials are scrambling to find alternative sites for transmitters to get national stations back on air.
