Milk buying tops student rows

五月 4, 2001

Students argue most about who used the milk and did not buy any more, according to a University of Abertay Dundee survey marking the launch of its hospitality management suite.

The survey, to explore how students managed their own hospitality, found that 36 per cent said failure to replenish everyday items was the most contentious issue about joint living. Just over a quarter said the biggest issue was who cleaned up.

Respondents were also asked for their favourite recipe for under £5, which included the Super Noodle sandwich, at £1.20. The menu is likely to be more upmarket in Abertay's new £400,000 training restaurant, which is central to the honours BA in hospitality management.

Nicholas Terry, head of Dundee Business School, said the restaurant taught students to manage big business operations.

"Learning to manage day-to-day life is a challenge for most young people, just as it's a challenge learning how to manage a restaurant or hotel. Our fun survey shows that many of the students at Abertay are already learning some of these skills in their everyday lives," he said.
