Middlesex to close engineering school

十一月 5, 1999

Middlesex University has announced it is to close its school of engineering systems in July 2000 because of under-recruitment of students.

The university said it has had problems with under-recruitment for years and for the academic year 1999-2000 student intake is 26 per cent below target.

It added: "Forward projections show that the school is not viable given high accommodation and other overhead costs." The university is discussing the possibility of transferring students with other universities and will make "every practicable effort" to avoid compulsory staff redundancies.
